About a half hour by train from Zurich is a little lake town called Zug. There is a lovely little old town, a gorgeous lake where you can sunbathe and swim, and a funicular that will take you to the top of the mountain for incredible views, hiking, and mountain biking. I spent the day here to get out of the chaos of Zurich, and it was well worth it. Transport is easy, and the the beautiful park on top of the mountain begs you to sit and just relax. Next time you are in Zurich and tire of getting run over by street cars, take a day trip to Zug. Click here for a few photos.
I have always been a fan of art and nature. Wherever I travel in the world, I try to spend time in both places. This summer, I managed to get to Liechtenstein. Try to find it on a map, I dare you. It is a very small nation nestled between Switzerland and Austria. Travel between the countries is quite easy, and at times it is difficult to tell which country you are standing in, unless you have done your homework.
I only came because it exists, and I am on a mission to see as much of the world as I can before it's all over. So here I find myself in this small nation for a few days. The capital, Vaduz, is nice, with a few attractions. See link above. The real gem is in the nature. This is an alpine nation, and 30 minutes on a bus from Vaduz takes you to a different world. Majestic peaks soar above tranquil, green valleys. It is a beautiful, peaceful, clean, green, crime-less nation. One certainly worth a visit. See photos here.
